Rainy Days at Palais Royal - Paris

Wir fanden fast durch Zufall zum Palais Royal, auch wenn der Platz schon länger auf meiner Liste stand. Denn auf der Suche nach der Louvre-Pyramide bogen wir Experten zwei-drei Mal falsch ab und standen plötzlich in diesem schönen Innenhof (die Pyramide fanden wir trotzdem kurze Zeit später ;)).

                                                                                                                       Die spiegelnden Kugeln im Brunnen in der Mitte des Platzes waren gerade bei Regen faszinierend und gaben dem ganzen einen modernen Touch, ein wundervolles Gegenstück zu den schwarz weißen Sockeln.

Aufregenderweise befand sich im hinteren Teil auch noch ein Saint Laurent Kubus, tapeziert mit schwarz-weiß Fotografien im Neonlicht. Das war nicht nur cool anzusehen sondern bietete Schutz vorm Regen :D

Schwarz-weiß war passenderweise auch mein Outfit da ich in meiner liebsten gestreiften Burberry-Bluse unterwegs war und dadurch perfekt in die Szenerie passte. 

Da es gerade in Paris nun mal schicker zugeht als in anderen Städten fühlte ich mich in meinem monochromen Outfit mit passender Schleife recht wohl und gewappnet gegen die Kälte. 

Meine geliebte (und extra für die Reise gekaufte 😁) Karl Lagerfeld Tasche rundete den Look ab. Aber lasst mich euch sagen: es gibt kaum eine unpraktischere Tasche als diese hier für Städtetrips!

Paris ist in den letzten Jahren definitiv zu einer meiner Lieblingsstädten geworden, auch wenn ich immer nur ein paar Tage am Stück da war. Ich bin jedes Mal wieder begeistert wie wunderschön wirklich jede Ecke ist und jede Jahreszeit hat seinen ganz eigenen Charme. Dass das Disneyland gleich um die Ecke ist ist natürlich nicht ganz unschuldig an meiner Liebe für die Stadt ;)

Military Jacket at Brandenburger Tor - Berlin

Unsere Berlin-Reise ist zwar schon ein wenig her aber rein wettertechnisch (der Himmel ist genau so grau wie momentan) passt es trotzdem zur Jahreszeit. An diesem Morgen checkten wir gerade aus unserem Hotel aus, huschten noch kurz am Brandenburger Tor und dem Adlon vorbei und waren danach in der Markthalle 9 frühstücken, wie ihr schon in diesem Blogpost lesen konntet.

Irgendwie verschlägt es uns mindestens ein bis zwei Mal im Jahr nach Berlin da wir die Stadt lieben und sie nur eine kurze Autofahrt entfernt ist.  Eine der besten Reisen war vor ein paar Jahren zu Silvester, wo wir auf dem Gendarmenmarkt auf das Neue Jahr gewartet haben.

Ein neuer Berlin-Besuch steht aber vermutlich erst wieder im Herbst an da ich erstmal für ein langes Wochenende bei Maren in Kassel bin und Ende Februar geht es dann ja auch schon nach New York. :)

Meinen Blazer habe ich bestimmt schon vor drei Jahren gekauft. Damals auf den Werbeplakaten trug ihn Cara Delevigne mit total tollen Snakeprint Stiefeletten, die ich bis heute immer noch gerne dazu hätte und sie bisher leider noch nirgendwo passend finden konnte. Da ich noch besagtes Plakatbild in einem früheren Mango-Prospekt habe werde ich auch noch ständig daran erinnert ;)

Stehen für euch schon Reisen in diesem Jahr an und welche ist euch vom letzten Jahr besonders in Erinnerung geblieben?

Foodspots for your weekend - When In... Berlin

Berlin is a city we frequently visit and we managed to explore new neighbourhoods and places the last time we went. It was a wonderful autumnal Saturday and a quite cold Sunday so we had different temperatures for different occasions (ice cream, markets, street-food, and tea time).

We originally came to Prenzlauer Berg to try the legendary Currywurst at 'Konnopkes', a long-established snack stall under a train track. Due to nice shops along the street we just traveled along and stumbled upon Oderberger Straße, a street with diverse and local cafes and shops like different, truly original second hand places and a wonderful ice cream shop called Par Creamery. I guess that they change their flavours according to season because I tried Brown Butter Plum with cinnamon and Pumpkin Cheesecake Speculoos. Two perfect flavours for the fall and winter time, especially for everyone who is obsessed with Pumpkin Spice like I am ;) You can find my blogpost on my visit to a pumpkin barn here.

Right next to my new favourite ice cream parlour was a cool coffee shop called Café Krone, which could have been straight out of New York City. The white tiles and vintage furniture added something cozy yet stylish flair. The food looked divine and the fact that it was fully booked for the next morning speaks for itself. I'm hoping for better luck next time!

I guess everyone who traveled with me before knows that I am highly fascinated by luxurious hotels and visiting one usually makes my day/trip :D

This time around, we took a closer look at the Hotel Stadtbad Oderberger. 
Their extravagant restaurant is built within the former thermal power station pictured on the left and in the summer you can enjoy their menu on the terrace next to their vegetable garden.

But the centerpiece of the hotel builds their pool next to the lobby. It is not only used for swimming but can be covered so that events like weddings can take place on top of it, in their beautifully restored swimming hall from 1898. It looks absolutely breathtaking in person.

On our agenda for the next morning was the Markthalle 9, an indoor market place for street food and all things culinary like cookbooks and workshops. 

               

We had this on our bucket list for the longest time and picked a lucky day because there were even extra food trucks and offers in the surrounding streets due to a Streetfoodfestival. 

I tried Liquorice-Nutella, Blondies, and Cinnamon Rolls and we even found Brammibal's Donuts, a vegan donut shop (in this case food truck but they have three locations across the city). I had to choose between a Chocolate-Pretzel and a Pumpkin Spice Donut and choose the latter (you can sense a theme ;)) to take it home for the next day, which was a fabulous choice.

Our last stop before our drive back home was my beloved Café Grosz. It reminds me of a very grand hotel or palace, maybe that's the reason wh I love it so much. 

Edit: I just did my research and it is in fact an old Grand Hotel from the 1920s!

The café is very atmospheric and detailed, with beautiful bouquets and fine porcelain. My treat pictured above was a Matcha Blackberry Cake.

During the warmer months you can sit in their internal courtyard, which appears quite Parisian.

Berlin has so many nice and different food spots and is in general such a diverse city. These were not only new places for me but old favourites as well and I guess there are many more to come after our next visit.

Fall Activities: Apple Picking

One of my favourite things in the fall-time is that we usually drive to Altes Land to take a walk and eat apple pie. A few years ago we stumbled upon Harms Hof, the oldest maintained farmyard in that region. It dates back to the 1500's and is still used today as a café and an event location. Behind the charming property is a river and a dike and the houses around that area sell homemade jams (and we got a raspberry-mango one :)). It is less crowded and touristy than the apple picking farms around (which may be because of their weird opening hours) and we managed to get a nice table next to the river to try their baked goods. All in all it was a wonderful way to cherish the golden October.
