Rainy Days at Palais Royal - Paris

Wir fanden fast durch Zufall zum Palais Royal, auch wenn der Platz schon länger auf meiner Liste stand. Denn auf der Suche nach der Louvre-Pyramide bogen wir Experten zwei-drei Mal falsch ab und standen plötzlich in diesem schönen Innenhof (die Pyramide fanden wir trotzdem kurze Zeit später ;)).

                                                                                                                       Die spiegelnden Kugeln im Brunnen in der Mitte des Platzes waren gerade bei Regen faszinierend und gaben dem ganzen einen modernen Touch, ein wundervolles Gegenstück zu den schwarz weißen Sockeln.

Aufregenderweise befand sich im hinteren Teil auch noch ein Saint Laurent Kubus, tapeziert mit schwarz-weiß Fotografien im Neonlicht. Das war nicht nur cool anzusehen sondern bietete Schutz vorm Regen :D

Schwarz-weiß war passenderweise auch mein Outfit da ich in meiner liebsten gestreiften Burberry-Bluse unterwegs war und dadurch perfekt in die Szenerie passte. 

Da es gerade in Paris nun mal schicker zugeht als in anderen Städten fühlte ich mich in meinem monochromen Outfit mit passender Schleife recht wohl und gewappnet gegen die Kälte. 

Meine geliebte (und extra für die Reise gekaufte 😁) Karl Lagerfeld Tasche rundete den Look ab. Aber lasst mich euch sagen: es gibt kaum eine unpraktischere Tasche als diese hier für Städtetrips!

Paris ist in den letzten Jahren definitiv zu einer meiner Lieblingsstädten geworden, auch wenn ich immer nur ein paar Tage am Stück da war. Ich bin jedes Mal wieder begeistert wie wunderschön wirklich jede Ecke ist und jede Jahreszeit hat seinen ganz eigenen Charme. Dass das Disneyland gleich um die Ecke ist ist natürlich nicht ganz unschuldig an meiner Liebe für die Stadt ;)

In Memory of Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld verstarb traurigerweise vergangenen Donnerstag. Eine Nachricht die mich sehr traf und ganz unverhofft am Bahnhof erwischte, als ich gerade umstieg und die Überschrift auf einer Anzeigetafel las. Karl Lagerfeld war (und ist) für mich, wie für viele andere, DER Modeschöpfer. Mit der Zeit sammelte sich bei mir viel an, ob nun Kunst, Bücher von und über ihn, Produkte wie Kerzen, Mode, und natürlich meine geliebten Taschen.

Ich fieberte seinen Schauen auf den Fashion Weeks entgegen und war wochenlang aufgeregt als bekannt wurde, dass seine Métiers d'Art Show für Chanel in der Elbphilharmonie stattfindet. Einmal Hamburg, immer Hamburg.

Hinzu kommen seine Kreativität und seine Visionen bezüglich Fendi, Chanel, und seinem eigenen Label. Ich erinnere mich auch noch an den von ihm designten Schwarzkopf Pop-Up-Store im Jahre 2011 in Düsseldorf, dem wir damals einen Besuch abstatteten.

Rest In Peace, Karl

P.S.: Ursprünglich wollte ich diesen Blog eigentlich "Kate and Karl" nennen, als Gedanken an meine beiden Lieblingsdesigner Kate Spade und Karl Lagerfeld. Mittlerweile sind beide verstorben, vielleicht treffen sie sich ja.

  

Shine Bright - Elbphilharmonie

I hope you all had a fresh first week and didn't reject your New Year's resolutions in the first few days. ;)

As usual, we spent January 1st celebrating my granddads birthday. This year our family met at Carl's, a French restaurant located next to the Elbphilharmonie. It was quite windy and cloudy, as you would expect in Hamburg, but we had wonderful seats so that we could people-watch and observe the high tide under us. 

Outfit wise, I settled for dark tones and a bit of glitter, mostly because my nails were still painted in that colour scheme, haha. The burgundy blouse is one of my favourite holiday staples that I've been wearing for years and is easy to dress up and down.

What I Got For Christmas 2017

Since my biggest present was our Disneyland Resort Paris trip a few days before christmas, I didn't expect to get more presents on Christmas Eve. Nonetheless I had some gifts to unwrap, which I will show in the following.

 

First of all I got the tickets, flights, and what not on the 22nd, the day of our flight. A recap with my highlights will soon be up on the blog. On the right side is a 25 anniversary Disneyland Resort Paris Bowl that I got from my neighbours who travelled with us. This will forever remind me of our wonderful trip.

Next to it is my beloved Audrey Hepburn Rubin Collection, which I talked about in this blogpost. 

My two new Filofax planner pages I get every single christmas because I basically can not live without them, haha.

A Lucie Kaas Karl Lagerfeld Kokeshi Doll I first saw at Illum Bolighus in Copenhagen and had on my wish list ever since.

A lovely  Henri Bendel Vanity Tray.

And last but not least, three new books! 

The first book is New York Christmas Baking, which is a new addition to the New York Christmas cookbooks. I am planning on test baking in the new year.

Then I got Vogue On - Manolo Blahnik from my sister. I'm very excited to read it, especially because we once met Manolo Blahnik himself at Bergdorf Goodman in New York a few years ago. I believe the book is a mixture of interviews, backstage stories, and Pictures from his design featured in Vogue and sketches like the one on the cover.

And finally: Paris Through A Fashion Eye by Megan Hess. I skipped through the pages and already saw her beautiful sketches and interesting tips for Museums in and around Paris.

What's On My Holiday Wishlist

Since me and a few of my dearest friends are spending the last few days before christmas at Disneyland Paris, there will be no extra presents for us this year. But there are still a few items that I adored this season or saw in the stores which could be stocking stuffers or remain on my wish list for the next year.

1. The Audrey Hepburn Rubin Collection 

I am a big Audrey Hepburn fan (then again, who isn't?) and I was quite excited when I saw this DVD-box at my local book store. The only Audrey Hepburn DVD I already own is Breakfast at Tiffany's so it would be quite practical to have a whole collection, hihi. The set includes Funny Face, Roman Holiday, Sabrina, War and Peace, and Breakfast at Tiffany's.

2. Paris Trough a Fashion Eye Book  

Megan Hess is my most favourite illustrator and I've been collecting her books for a while. Coincidently, she  publishes new destination books when we are already planning a trip to said city. Last year it was New York, this time Paris; which is really nice because she shares great tips from hotels, restaurants, to shops, always underlined by her art.

3. Chanel Rouge Coco Gloss

When Chanel did a Pop-Up Tour to advertise their newest Lipgloss range I tried a few of their products and fell in love with one particular colour. I usually never wear lipgloss or lipstick but the colour 736 - Douceur probably changed that! It looks quite bright in the bottle but is actually more nude in real life.

4. UGG Bow Slippers

I used to steal my dads slippers as a kid and am still quite into warming footwear but tend to go for fuzzy socks because they are just more comfortable than shoes. I do own two pairs but I just want those UGG slippers because of those bows and pompoms?! There are many cold months coming for us after all! ;)
