What I got for Christmas + my Christmas decorations 2019

What I Got For Christmas 2018

Since I wasn't really asking for anything particular this christmas, Christmas Eve was full of wonderful surprises. I got bits and bobs like socks, a cake slice, hand cream, and candle holders.

I also got a pink lambwool-sweater and Lindsey Stirling's first ever Holiday album (because christmas isn't complete without a CD ;)). Additionaly I got tickets for The Lion King Musical, which I'm beyond excited about!

On the left is the present I got from my sister since I love pretzels (and yoga, hence the card). If you couldn't tell it is a plush pretzel, or maybe a pillow?

My favourite present this year is my new Tiffany & Co bracelet, which combines my ring and my necklace with the classic heart pendant.
Besides that I got Reese Witherspoons book "Whiskey in a Teacup", which features recipes and life lessons, as well as anecdotes from her grandmother. I am a RW-fan so this coffee-table-book was a must!
In the right corner of the picture above is a beautiful Dolce & Gabbana tin box with a panettone inside.

A piece of our christmas tree next to our fire place, we really love the holidays!

Last but not least, I am excited to tell you that my next trip will be to New York at the end of February (just a few days after Fashion Week)! That wasn't a christmas present but it got confirmed a few days ago and therefore feels like one. :)

What did you get for christmas and what are you doing New Year's Eve?

Countdown to Christmas

I can't believe there are only six days left until Christmas Eve! Even though I already did all my holiday shopping and sent out my christmas cards, the holiday time still calls for more baking and christmas movies! I've seen Christmas With The Kranks (one of my favourites), Christmas Vacation, The Princess Switch (a new Netflix film with Vanessa Hudgens), and Beauty And The Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, the latter is an old favourite of mine. I would listen to it on CD as a kid over and over again and somehow I lost it (or I'm just unable to find it) but when I came across the DVD at a media store I just had to have it! The films that are on my watchlist this season are Home Alone and The Nutcracker And The Four Realms, which is currently in theatres.

Coat: Benneton
Scarf: Ralph Lauren
Jeans: DKNY
Sweater: Ralph Lauren
Bag: Kate Spade
Boots: Drievholt
Nails: Chanel 500 - Rouge Essentiel

My christmas tree is up and fully decorated, I even decorated a gingerbread house with my sister and our friend and the only things left to do are wrapping most of my presents and visiting Christmas Markets.

Do you have your christmas tree and presents already? And what is your favourite film to put you in the christmas mood?
Let me know.

What I Got For Christmas 2017

Since my biggest present was our Disneyland Resort Paris trip a few days before christmas, I didn't expect to get more presents on Christmas Eve. Nonetheless I had some gifts to unwrap, which I will show in the following.

First of all I got the tickets, flights, and what not on the 22nd, the day of our flight. A recap with my highlights will soon be up on the blog. On the right side is a 25 anniversary Disneyland Resort Paris Bowl that I got from my neighbours who travelled with us. This will forever remind me of our wonderful trip.
Next to it is my beloved Audrey Hepburn Rubin Collection, which I talked about in this blogpost

My two new Filofax planner pages I get every single christmas because I basically can not live without them, haha.
A Lucie Kaas Karl Lagerfeld Kokeshi Doll I first saw at Illum Bolighus in Copenhagen and had on my wish list ever since.
A lovely  Henri Bendel Vanity Tray.

And last but not least, three new books!
The first book is New York Christmas Baking, which is a new addition to the New York Christmas cookbooks. I am planning on test baking in the new year.
Then I got Vogue On - Manolo Blahnik from my sister. I'm very excited to read it, especially because we once met Manolo Blahnik himself at Bergdorf Goodman in New York a few years ago. I believe the book is a mixture of interviews, backstage stories, and Pictures from his design featured in Vogue and sketches like the one on the cover.
And finally: Paris Through A Fashion Eye by Megan Hess. I skipped through the pages and already saw her beautiful sketches and interesting tips for Museums in and around Paris.

What did you get for christmas?

I hope you had lovely festive days and will dance through the night to welcome the new year.

Christmas Tea Time - Sylt

I can't believe christmas is only two days away - and what's even more astounding: that I am on a plane in less than seven hours! We will be flying to Paris, or more exactly to Disneyland Paris, to (pre-)celebrate their 25th anniversary, christmas, and our friendship.
But let's get back to the actual topic: my last weekend in Sylt.

We only stayed for two days due to work and school but had a relaxing weekend in cozy Keitum. As we always do, we ended our trip with a visit at the Kleine Teestube, just a few meters away from our lovely hotel.

It is the perfect place to warm up after a gloomy walk along the shore as they have a wide selection of tea, a few cakes and warming foods like soup. They have a huge terrace for the warmer months but used it this time as a christmas market with mulled wine and eggnog.

The inside of the cafe is quite kitschy with little figurines and quotes everywhere. I guess that the chairs and tables were found on a flea market 'cause they mismatch, which adds even more charm ,in my opinion. They also exhibit different german artists which pictures you can buy and this season they had lovely flower paintings. Sadly the light inside was quite bad so the pictures didn't turn out well.

Even though the island was not as decorated as I imagined, the Kleine Teestube met my expectations. We also were quite lucky that it started to snow a little during nighttime, as you can see on the bird house behind me.

Now I really need some rest for the next few exciting days! And I can't wait until I see the over-the-top decorations in person.
I hope you are having stressless days and can enjoy the season. And don't forget to blast One More Sleep through your speakers, the time is right! ;)

Christmas Brunch at Sansibar - Sylt

My last time in Sylt was two years ago and it was nice to see that nothing really changed. The last christmas trip was even longer ago, exactly six years, and this time we started it off with a relaxed brunch at Sansibar.

The waitress brings the whole selection of sweet and savory treats to your table and you can order more if you like (which isn't necessary at all). My favourite thing was that they even include their famous currywurst. :)

The restaurant is located amidst sand dunes which you overlook through the glass front and the ceiling is completely covered in christmas decorations in this time of the year.

Even though we had mostly nice weather, we could also watch rain and snow and witnessed a beautiful rainbow above the hills.

All around the restaurant are decorations and christmas trees and it is definitely worth a visit. It is probably quite magical in the dark because the restaurant hasn't any lamps inside as it is only illuminated by candles. And don't worry if the weather is too bad, there is even a shuttle service up the hill. ;)

What's On My Holiday Wishlist

Holiday Wishlist 2017

Since me and a few of my dearest friends are spending the last few days before christmas at Disneyland Paris, there will be no extra presents for us this year. But there are still a few items that I adored this season or saw in the stores which could be stocking stuffers or remain on my wish list for the next year.

I am a big Audrey Hepburn fan (then again, who isn't?) and I was quite excited when I saw this DVD-box at my local book store. The only Audrey Hepburn DVD I already own is Breakfast at Tiffany's so it would be quite practical to have a whole collection, hihi. The set includes Funny Face, Roman Holiday, Sabrina, War and Peace, and Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Megan Hess is my most favourite illustrator and I've been collecting her books for a while. Coincidently, she  publishes new destination books when we are already planning a trip to said city. Last year it was New York, this time Paris; which is really nice because she shares great tips from hotels, restaurants, to shops, always underlined by her art.

When Chanel did a Pop-Up Tour to advertise their newest Lipgloss range I tried a few of their products and fell in love with one particular colour. I usually never wear lipgloss or lipstick but the colour 736 - Douceur probably changed that! It looks quite bright in the bottle but is actually more nude in real life.

I used to steal my dads slippers as a kid and am still quite into warming footwear but tend to go for fuzzy socks because they are just more comfortable than shoes. I do own two pairs but I just want those UGG slippers because of those bows and pompoms?! There are many cold months coming for us after all! ;)

Let me know what things you are wishing for this year.

When In ... New York -Christmas Edition-

Hello! This year, me and my family spent christmas time in New York City. Even though I was sick in our hotel room most of the time, I would like to share my favorite things to see in NYC during christmas season.

As you may know, the city that never sleeps goes all out with christmas decoration. You can see beautiful trees and fairy lights in nearly every hotel lobby and around every corner.

For all Gossip Girl fans: the christmas tree in front of the Lotte New York Palace Hotel.
The Kidrobot and Paul Smith Tree at Brookfield Place.

The Christmas Tree at the Beekman Hotel.
The Henri Bendel Christmas Tree.
To finish it all off, the most famous tree of them all.

A must-see in New York is the Christmas Spectacular Show featuring the Rockettes at the Radio City Music Hall. It is an annual musical holiday stage show and a New York Tradition.

My last tip would be the massive christmas decoration all over the city but especially at Fifth Avenue.

Cartier

 Saks Fifth Avenue

                                                                                                    Henri Bendel
 Lord & Taylor

 Tommy Hilfiger
 Tiffany & Co.

Christmas Bulbs and Lights near Radio City Music Hall

Some windows and decorations are that popular that people queue in front of them. Sadly, New York around christmas time is probably fuller and fuller each year.

I hope you all had a pleasant christmas season and I wish you a happy New Year!

Love, Laura
